Heaven and the Poor
Sheikh Saadi writes that a couple of men were sitting on the grave of their respective fathers. One of them was a dervish, the other was rich. Suddenly, Rich broke the silence and said, Look how beautiful my father's grave is. The emerald stone is placed, and the plaque is inscribed with beautiful calligraphy, compared to how shabby your father's tomb is. Two handfuls of clay and a few stones that too without arrangement. Dervish's son listened silently. When he had said all, then the dervish's son bade farewell to the silence,
saying, Look brother, I believe your father's grave is beautiful. A heavy green stone is placed on it, and your father's name is inscribed on the plaque in beautiful calligraphy. Look, brother, we cannot turn away from reality. What is the truth? When everyone will be raised from the grave on the Day of Resurrection, on that day, by the time your father removes this heavy stone, then by that time my father will have reached heaven, because my father has these two fists. It will not hurt to remove the soil.
What lesson do we learn from this story? The real story of this story is that the Lord of the Universe gives as much wealth as he can. Stone is likened to wealth within the story. If you have more wealth, your burden will be more. If there is a mistake in the calculation, then how will the calculation be done on the Day of Muhshar? If you see a poor person, he will not be asked why you did not perform Hajj. Why not help my servants? Why not feed the orphans? But all these questions will be asked to rich person.
